The Vice Chairman of the Agboluaje Kajola Foundation (AKF), Asiwaju Olusegun Akintade, has been described as a visionary philanthropist whose unwavering commitment to poverty alleviation and community development has transformed thousands of lives across South-West Nigeria.
The commendation was contained in a statement delivered by Dr. Bakare Oladimeji in Lagos on Saturday to mark Akintade's 50th birthday.
Dr. Bakare who was represented by Hon. Oriola Kabir, the secretary Agboluaje Kajola Foundation who said Akintade's life exemplifies compassion, visionary leadership and selfless service, noting that his humanitarian interventions have brought hope to vulnerable individuals and communities.
Born into the renowned Aroko's Compound in Isale Osun, Osogbo, Akintade was praised for remaining connected to his roots while dedicating his life to uplifting others through impactful charitable initiatives.
Dr. Bakare said Akintade's academic background in Agricultural Economics from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, laid the foundation for his passion for rural development, economic empowerment and poverty reduction.
He highlighted the achievements of the Agboluaje Kajola Foundation, where Akintade serves as Vice Chairman alongside the Chairman, Dr. Kayode Adegbulugbe, popularly known as Dr. JAGZ.
According to him, the foundation has invested more than ₦800 million in poverty alleviation and community development programmes across the South-West over the past five years.
He added that the foundation has empowered over 5,000 traders and farmers, providing financial support and other resources to improve their businesses, agricultural productivity and livelihoods.
Dr. Bakare also said the foundation constructed an ultra-modern mosque in Osogbo as part of its commitment to community development and support for religious infrastructure.
He further noted that the foundation has installed more than 1,000 solar-powered streetlights across major markets in South-West Nigeria to improve security, extend trading hours and stimulate local economic activities.
Describing the partnership between Akintade and Adegbulugbe as a model of purposeful leadership, Oladimeji said their shared vision has enabled the foundation to deliver sustainable interventions that continue to impact lives across the region.
While congratulating Akintade on attaining the age of 50, he urged Nigerians to emulate his commitment to humanity, stressing that the best way to honour a life devoted to public service is by contributing to the development of society.
He also offered prayers for the celebrant, wishing him continued good health, wisdom and greater opportunities to expand his humanitarian efforts.
He described Akintade's golden jubilee as a celebration of an enduring legacy of philanthropy, leadership and service to humanity.
